Privacy Policy
In short: Wakeward does not collect any data. Your alarms, your mission history, your scan code and your reference photo stay on your iPhone. We have no account system, no server, no ads, no analytics and no tracking.
What we collect
Nothing. WiserWorks LLC does not receive your alarms, your wake-up times, your mission results, your photos, your camera images, your step counts, your location, device identifiers or any information about how you use the app. Wakeward contains no third-party software development kits (SDKs) for analytics, advertising, crash reporting or anything else.
What stays on your iPhone
- Your alarms: time, repeat days, label, mission and difficulty, and the other settings you choose. The alarms are also handed to iOS (Apple's AlarmKit), which keeps them so that they ring when Wakeward is closed. The label you give an alarm is shown by iOS when that alarm rings.
- Your mission history: for each mission you run (also with Try it now): the date, the mission and difficulty, the result (completed or emergency stop), how long it took, how many tries failed and whether you switched to the math mission; and a count of completed missions.
- Your scan mission code: if you register a code, the text of that QR code or barcode and the name of the place you give it (for example "bathroom").
- Your photo mission reference photo: if you register a photo, one reduced-size reference photo of your spot and the name you give it. The other photos taken while you register are used for the comparison and are not kept. The photo you take when the mission runs is compared with the reference and is not kept.
- Technical records: a log of alarm events (what was scheduled and when it rang, with times and the alarm titles, which include the labels you give your alarms; the alarm permission state; your iPhone model, iOS version and Wakeward version; battery level and state, and whether Low Power Mode was on), and the files that record which alarms are armed with iOS. Wakeward uses them to re-arm your alarms and to show the Ring check. They are not sent anywhere.
- A few settings of the app itself: for example whether you finished the first-run screens and for which app version Wakeward last asked for a rating.
Nothing in this list is uploaded or synced to iCloud by Wakeward. If you back up your iPhone with iCloud Backup or to a computer, iOS may include Wakeward's data in that backup. Backups are handled by Apple and by you; we have no access to them.
Permissions
- Alarms: so that Wakeward can schedule the wake-up alarms and backup alarms you set. With this permission, a Wakeward alarm rings even in Silent mode and Do Not Disturb. Without it no alarm can ring.
- Camera: only in the scan mission (to read your registered code) and in the photo mission (to take the photos). Wakeward does not use the camera at any other time and does not use your photo library.
- Motion & Fitness: only in the walk mission, to count your steps while the mission is on screen. The step count is not kept. The shake mission reads the phone's motion sensors while it is on screen, which needs no permission, and keeps nothing.
Wakeward does not use your microphone, your contacts or your location. While an alarm rings, iOS can show it on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island.
How the photo and the code are checked
The comparison of your photo with the reference photo runs on your iPhone, with Apple's Vision framework. Reading the code runs on your iPhone, with the iOS camera. Neither is sent to us or to anyone else.
When the app uses the network
| What | Who handles it | What is sent |
|---|---|---|
| Purchases: Wakeward Plus (yearly with a free trial for new subscribers, monthly, or a one-time lifetime purchase), Restore Purchases and Manage Subscription. | Apple (App Store, StoreKit) | What Apple needs to show prices and process the purchase. We never see your payment details or your Apple Account. Apple gives us sales reports without your identity. |
| Rating prompt: after 3 completed missions, at most once per app version. | Apple (App Store) | iOS decides whether to show Apple's rating prompt. A rating you give is handled by Apple, not by Wakeward. |
| Links in the app: Privacy policy, Support and Apple's Terms of Use. | Your browser | Nothing from Wakeward. Opening a link is an ordinary visit to that web page. |
Wakeward itself makes no other network connections. Apple's handling of purchases is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.
What you share yourself
The App Store version of Wakeward has no export or share function: the information above stays on your iPhone. Test versions that we give to testers through Apple's TestFlight also have a Diagnostics section in Settings, with test tools for checking how reliably alarms ring. One of them can prepare a log file that the tester can share through the iOS share sheet. It goes only where the tester chooses. It contains the technical log described above (alarm events and times, alarm titles with your alarm labels, your iPhone model, iOS and Wakeward version, battery and Low Power state), not your photo and not the text of your scan code. Wakeward never shares anything on its own.
Deleting your data
- Delete an alarm: open it in the Alarms list and tap Delete alarm. Wakeward then removes that alarm and its backups from iOS.
- Replace your registered code or photo: Missions, then Replace code or Replace photo. A new photo replaces the old one on your iPhone.
- Delete everything: delete the Wakeward app. iOS removes all of its data from your iPhone. Copies in your backups follow your backup settings.
Because we hold no data about you, there is nothing for us to export or delete on our side.
Children
Wakeward is not directed at children under 13, and it collects no data from anyone.
Changes to this policy
If the way Wakeward handles data changes, we will update this page and the date above before the change reaches the app.
