Privacy notice
A short, factual description of what this website actually does with data. It describes the site only.
Cookies and tracking
This website uses Google Analytics 4, a service of Google LLC, to count visits and see which pages are used. Google Analytics sets first-party cookies (named _ga) and receives technical information about your visit: the pages you open, your browser and device type, an approximate location derived from your IP address, and the referring page. Google Analytics does not log or store full IP addresses. We look at these statistics only in aggregate, we do not use Google's advertising features, and we do not combine the data with anything else. You can opt out with Google's opt-out browser add-on or by blocking cookies in your browser; the website works the same either way. Google describes its handling of the data at How Google uses information from sites that use its services. Apart from Google Analytics, the fonts, images, stylesheet and script all come from this domain.
There is no advertising pixel, no tag manager, no session storage and no fingerprinting.
The contact form
If you send the contact form, the name, email address, optional company name and message you type are emailed to WiserWorks so that we can reply. Specifically:
- The message is not written to a database or any file on the web server.
- It is sent once, by email, and then discarded by the server.
- We use it only to answer you. It is not added to a mailing list and it is not shared or sold.
- The message then lives in an ordinary company mailbox, subject to that provider’s terms.
The drone-services quote form
The quote form on the Drone Services page is handled by its own script on this website. This is what it does:
- What you enter. Name, email address, service and project details are required. Company, phone number and project address are optional. The page also sends the time it was opened, which the form uses to recognise automated submissions; that time is not kept.
- Purpose. We use it only to reply to your request and to prepare a quote. It is not added to a mailing list and it is not shared or sold.
- Who receives it. The form emails everything you entered, with the date and time of the submission, to the AviationWiser company mailbox of WiserWorks LLC. It also emails a confirmation, which names you and the service you chose, to the address you entered. Both emails are sent through the company’s own mail account; the form passes the data to no other service.
- What stays on the server. The message is not written to a database or to any file on the web server. The only thing the form stores there is the small rate-limit file described below. If sending fails, the server’s error log receives one technical line from the mail system, which can include the email address it rejected.
- How long we keep it. The two emails stay in the mailboxes they were sent to until you ask us to delete them or we no longer need them to answer you or to carry out the work you requested. You can ask for deletion at any time (see “Your choices” below).
Rate limit of this form. The form accepts at most five submissions in 30 minutes from one internet address. To count them it writes a small file to the server’s temporary folder. The file is named after a SHA-256 hash of the sending IP address (the address itself is not written) and contains only the times of the recent submissions. Entries older than 30 minutes no longer count and are dropped the next time that address submits. The form does not delete the file itself; it stays in that folder until the hosting server clears temporary files. It holds no name, email address or message content. Because the number of possible IP addresses is limited, we treat such a hash as personal data.
Third parties. The drone-services page and the form follow the same rule as the rest of this website: apart from Google Analytics (described above), nothing loads from a third party. The fonts, images, stylesheets and scripts all come from this domain, and the form sends what you enter only to this domain; Google Analytics does not receive the content of the form.
One thing to know about the confirmation email: it shows the AviationWiser logo, which is loaded from this website. If your email program loads remote images, that request reaches our web server and appears in its ordinary access log, which is governed by the hosting provider (see the note on server access logs below).
Anti-spam measures
To keep the form usable, the server applies a rate limit. To do that it keeps a keyed hash of the sending IP address — not the address itself — for up to one hour, and then it disappears. Nothing about the message is kept with it.
If request logging is switched on, each attempt writes a single line containing a timestamp and an outcome such as “ok” or “rejected”. No names, no email addresses, no IP addresses and no message content are ever written there.
Your web host’s own server access logs are separate from this and are governed by the hosting provider.
Your choices
You can ask us to delete the email you sent us at any time, and we will. Use the address on the contact page.
